Yellow A5 card through door??? HELP

Options
Hi there, was wondering if anyone can help.
Today I have recieved an A5 yellow card through the door with CONFIRMED RESIDENT in big bold letters on the top. The card states it is from a company called Frederickson International LTD acting on behalf of 02 Uk LTD stating my account is seriously in arrears and to contact them to make a payment as they have tracked down our address. I had an 02 mobile and 02 internet account which I closed last year (approx 13 months ago) when the contracts ran out. I have recieved no other correspondence from 02 since apart from this suspect looking card today.
Has anyone had one of these before?
Not sure whether to waste money on a phone call ringing them or if it is just a scam??

Any advise is appreciated.
Thankyou

Just ignore it. You have no debt with them and they don't even know your name, so it's likely a fishing expedition.

Hi amy, does it say what'll happen if you don't pay up? If it says they'll take action fairly soon then I think I'd contact 02 and try and sort it out.

Once you get through by phone and brief them about what you're calling about, ask them to kindly phone you back on your number.

    All best wishes,

The number on the card will be for fredrikson - first you need to establish if o2 know what this is about - depending on your name it's entirely possible they have decided your name is similar enough to someone elses name to hassle you for their debt just on the off chance. IF they make contact before you speak to o2 tell them to send you proof of the debt and a full break down of any charges as you dispute owing anything (which you do). DO NOT get talked into giving them any details, account numbers, money etc it is up to THEM to prove you owe money, not to you to prove you do not!

    Whats on your credit file?
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
  • be careful with o2. My brother had a contract 3 years ago with them. It was on the simplicity contract where all you did was give 30 days notice. I personally called them myself as he was getting a lot of unwanted calls and he wanted to cancel the account. The account was closed. He bought a new phone...end of.

2 years down the line my brother told me he had 2 bank charges for going into his overdraft (hes a bit thick). When i looked, he had been paying £20 to o2 at the beginning of the month and £20 at the end.

After ringing them they told me that for some reason the contract he had wasnt cancelled and another contract set up for him when i called. He ended up with 2 contracts running that he never had any confirmation for and didnt even know about.

o2 are really pants at confirming things, to this day i still have no paperwork stating either accounts have been officially closed.
