do i need to book train ticket for travelling home on christmas eve

my daughter will be traveling home from the west country after finishing work on Christmas eve evening at approx 7 pm.
is it advisable for her to book her train ticket home or do you think there will be seats available. i dont want her to be stranded...
she will be travelling from bristol to oxford

    I would book in advance even if I thought the train would be empty, purely because it's likely to be cheaper booking it before the day.

    Previously on the Paddington/West Country IC services they have made some trains 'bookings' only to avoid excessive overcrowding.

    I am with the others, why wouldnt you prebook if she knows what time she will be travelling...and it will be cheaper

    A) it's cheaper and b) she'll get a guaranteed seat - assuming they don't stuff up the tickets on the seats.

    It's a no-brainer. Book in advance.
  • Train services usually finish earlier on Christmas Eve too, so I'd recommend checking with the operator(s) now.
