I would book in advance even if I thought the train would be empty, purely because it's likely to be cheaper booking it before the day.0

Previously on the Paddington/West Country IC services they have made some trains 'bookings' only to avoid excessive overcrowding.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

Why wouldn't you want to pre-book?0

Pre-book. Its not worth the hassle come Christmas Eve.0

I am with the others, why wouldnt you prebook if she knows what time she will be travelling...and it will be cheaper0

A) it's cheaper and b) she'll get a guaranteed seat - assuming they don't stuff up the tickets on the seats.
It's a no-brainer. Book in advance.0 -
Train services usually finish earlier on Christmas Eve too, so I'd recommend checking with the operator(s) now.0
