The line is still physically connected to Talk Talk's equipment. There's no service = correct.
But that's irrelevant.
You just pick whichever supplier you want to supply your line rental and they will sort it out. For instance to have a BT service a change needs making at the exchange to migrate the line from Talk Talk to BT Wholesale.
Who is supplying the broadband on the line? I'd previously thought that on a Talk Talk line you could only have Talk Talk broadband.0 -
After writing that a thought occurs - did you order broadband using the number for the line as was (the old tenant's number) and that is up and running now, but, there's no line rental sorted yet? (If so, this may potentially get very messy)0

Even messier if Talk Talk do what the previous tenant apparently wanted - for the line to be ceased! Then you'll have broadband being carried on a line which no longer exists.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

No what i am saying is that i was able to get the broandband ok because it is infinity but when i lift the handset it goes to their account department with no help from them what so ever i want to be on bt and their not relisiing the line0

There's somethng very odd going on there.
Your line must be wired up to Talk Talk's network, since that's what you get directed to when you dial out.
Infinity is the BT brand name for the fibre to the cabinet service (Talk Talk also supply it). However Infinity is only available with a BT line (line rental paid to BT). So how you managed to order that and get it provisioned is a mystery.
In any event, you don't even need to speak to Talk Talk. They are completely irrelevant. It looks like the service was ceased on the 28th which is why you can't ring anyone and get directed to their accounts department.
In the event of such a line case, the broadband may continue working for a short while, then that gets ceased as well. Because the broadband is the sub-service, if you like, to the line rental. No line rental = no broadband.
Are you absolutely sure you don't have a second phone socket anywhere in the building?
Anyway - you need to forget Talk Talk and speak to BT to order a BT service. At which point I'd suggest you mention you already have the Infinity service and don't want that going off when the line rental is organised, and then having to be re-provisioned.0
