Sympathise with you - this is first year we have been the "standard" family.
Depends where you want to stay really - only have experience in scotland for weekend breaks - rest of time going abroad.
If you're interested Some Hilton hotels will have room but may need to contact hotel direct. Classicbritain may have some and the Paramount Group.
Crieff Hydro is lovely, Dunblane Hydro. Try Laterooms for availability.
hope this helps.0 -
Where about are you going??? Are you going abroad or staying in UK??? Have you looked at renting an apartment?? I do that now, rather than hotels as you have a lot more freedom over eating, sleeping arrangements etc and it usually works out cheaper.Noli nothis permittere te terere

It's a pain isn't it -makes you wish you just had2. We went to a great idea a kind of ibis at the weekend -called suitehotel -which was a really cool idea but I booked and only after realised it was max 2 a 2 kids so we had to keep sneaking one in -it turned out fine but it was one of those prebook rates so I wasn't about to lose all my money.
I find now we have to book very cheap ri=ooms ie travellodge and get 2 -it is a pain sometimes you are better finding a good B&B with a family room-you can often find them with 5 or there are some really nice YH now with family rooms -my children think they are great-but they are not really cheap.0 -
thanks for your replies I was just asking for reference for when we feel like taking off for a day or two
it has been suggested by others we know with 3 kids to sneak one in as they used to do ,I just find it really annoying in a day of step-families that we are not catered for!0 -
It's a difficult issue this, it can, in some circumstances, double the cost of a holiday by having to have an extra room. In the UK there are some chains that offer family rooms. i have certainly stayed in a Holiday Inn that offered this facility with a family of 5 (2 adults and 3 kids). Shop around and check out the hotel booking services on line, you can input number of adults and children and available hotels should pop up. Alternately call the big chains and ask, they all have national (and international) central booking and reservation lines.
In the US it is a bit easier and they seem to be better at catering for families of 5 or more. They are much more amenable to roll away beds in rooms for children under 12. Also hotels are significantly cheaper over there. There is also a Health and Safety issue in the UK, somewhat ridiclous in my view, which limits the number of occupants in certain sized rooms. I have just booked to go to California in the summer with family (5 of us) and tried to book a certain hotel in LA through British Airways. I knew the room could take 5 people but BA couldnt book it for me due to UK H&S regs, however I booked by calling the hotel direct, how absurd is that!0
