PCN fine given. did not display valid ticket

My wife bought a valid ticket and rather absentmindedly did not display it on the car. She received a Parking Charge Notice from a company working on behalf the local council. We sent them in the ticket which showed the time, date and registration proving the ticket was valid and was purchased well before the fine, they replied by sending us photos of the car and telling us that the fine was given in good faith and will stand. Can anybody give me advice on what to do next?

Get her to check the wording on the ticket itself - it is important - is it a Parking Charge Notice or is it a Penalty Charge Notice? There is a distinct difference in how to treat them.My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com0 -
what is the name of the company??? and are you sure they are working on behalf of the council???????0
-
Get the ticket and find the section that says : Send payment to :
Please post this information EXACTLY as it is written, do not get "distracted" just copy what it says in that section and post it up ASAP
All confusion will be halted immediately and you will be given the best correct advice of what you should do next.
Example :
Send Payments to:
Dodgy parking services LTD
po box 1a
back of the bike sheds

thanks all !! To confirm it is a Parking Charge notice. issued by a company called Legion Group. Payments to
Legion Group
2 brock house
Nateby technology park.
Nateby
PR3 OLU.
At the top of the letter it states "as agents Legion Parking Division mamage the Kirby, Huton and Prescot car parks on behalf of Knowsley Met Borough Council"
To make it even worse my wife has been told at work that the people who issue the notices have a terminal which connects to the machine that issues the parking ticket, so they know who has bought a ticket before they issue the fine ??0 -
http://www.legion-group.co.uk/ just the same as all the other low-life PPCs.... ignore them.Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0

You purchased the ticket therefore the landowner's damages are simply put, zero.
Ignore the PPC and if that car-park belongs to a retailer/retailers ignore them as well0 -
As others have said, it's not a real parking ticket. Please do stop calling it a fine because it is not one.
Just ignore them completely, nothing wil happen and she can still park there. If you pay you will have been scammed so do not fall victim to this just because it looks legit. It is not.

Please stop writing to them for gawd's sake, you are taking this to seriously. Read some of the dozens of threads from here and from pepipoo forums which are revealed if you follow that link.
And then please read the sticky threads here on this forum (top of forum, permanent info threads). You need to read 'PPC letters, what to expect' (for an idea of the letters that may start arriving) and you shoud have read 'welcome, please read before posting' which gives you a Watchdog link you would have been well advised to have heeded before you decided to write to them. Just because something on the windscreen mimics a real PCN does not mean it is one; when it is a 'Parking Charge Notice' it is a fake ticket.
No harm done, just ignore them now and show your wife the Watchdog clip on the sticky thread I mentioned.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
