Hi
After someone's useful advice about staying in the Alps, I have started looking into this. I've come across a resort called Tignes.
Could anyone tell me what it's like there and if it's a worthwhile place to go for myself and two children. We won't actually be going for skiing. I'm going mainly to practice my French but obviously we want to do fun things too!
This is the only place where I've found a reasonable priced studio to rent in August for a month. All Cities and coasts cost quite a bit.
Is it an expensive place and is it easy to get to from london? Any info you have would be gratefully received.

Tignes' a pretty ugly place but that's not an issue when you're skiing. It is, however, close to Val d'Isere and the glacier means there's year-round skiing. The Alps, of course, are beautiful and I'm sure there's plenty of activites to do during the summer.
Geneva and Chambery airports are close — not sure about transfers during the summer though.0 -
Chamonix is a good place to stay in the summer, close to Geneva airport and close to Lake Annecy (1 hour by car)0

Thanks for your replies. I've been looking into Chamonix and, your definitely right, it sounds like a lovely place to stay, i'm now trying to find somewhere suitable!
Any ideas on where to stay? Are there any budget studios to rent out?0 -
