Moving back to the UK

Long time lurker, first time poster here. I'm currently living overseas and plan to return to the UK around May 2012 after 14 years away. I've got a nice little cushion of savings to help me with the return to the UK and am quite likely to find work in my chosen field which will provide housing so there won't be a big panic to fund a mortgage or rent as soon as I return.
While being overseas I've maintained a UK credit card and bank accounts at a family address and have visited the country often.
I am aware that I should open up an ISA as soon as possible on my return as I've not been able to have one of these while being overseas. Does anyone have any suggestions of other financial matters that should be arranged on my return?
Many thanks for any replies.

Any money you bring back with you will be suject to tax on the income. So try and get as much into tax free vehicles ASAP. Look into NSI products too.
For your credit record, make sure you sign up to things like the electoral role, and try to get utilities in your name even if accomodation is tied.
When you start work and paying tax, you might bring up your pension arrangments (or call the pension provider so they can claim your Tax rel)0 -
Thank you atush.
Would I be able to claim tax relief even though my pension payments are offshore?0 -
Not sure (not on the old payments but maybe on new ones?). But you could transfer the pot over to add in new payments, or just pay into a new one.0
