DLA paid weekly?

Slightly confuzzled. Any help appreciated TIA.

So on the 22nd November there was a DLA payment paid into my bank account for DS = £275.40 which equals £68.85 x 4 weeks (middle care/low mob) Never had any problems regarding DLA payments always correct amount on correct date.

Now DS turned 16 on Monday (I'm getting old! :p) Had lady from the DWP out prior to DS turning 16 and we both agreed it would still be in DS best interest if I was his apointee regarding his DLA payments.

Tadah! I'm getting to the point now...honest. Just checked my bank account via tele banking as I'm on a strict budget these days and there is a single payment of £68.85 from DLA which was paid in on Tuesday 29th November, which is strange as I had already received a payment of £275.40 the previous week Tuesday 22nd November.

So what I'm wondering is when child turns 16 do they (DLA) automatically make the payments weekly, or is there a hiccup in the system?

Of course I will call in the morning and enquire, just thought I would put the feelers out here first.

  • Hello, out of curiosity, did you find your answer?

My daughter turns 16 next week, and I had expected a visit from the DWP about the appointee bit, but nothing as yet.
Her existing award runs out the day before her birthday, but the new award is already in place, so that may have complicated things in my case.

  • When my son turned 16 he had a one off weekly payment, it then went back to 4 weekly. I didn't find out why though.
  • Maybe it is a sort of gift thing? for his 16th. Who knows, they give christmas bonus
