Just in case there's any shops you fancy visiting .... http://straitonretailpark.blogspot.com/p/to-z-of-stores.html
Also a Costa Coffee somewhere & there's an Asda opened since I was last there (very handy as I usually end up back-tracking to the Jewel on the way home) - no idea where that is but it'll certainly have a cafe too.

Just out of curiosity, are you a skier?
I'm not a regular skier, although I have skied before and loved it. OH has a bit of a gammy knee so skiing would be potential injury territory for him so we've never beenI would love to though, and would love a crack at snowboarding too. I used to windsurf and ice skate so my balance [STRIKE]isn't[/STRIKE] wasn't too bad - that was a few years ago too though. Do you ski?

Hi everyone, Can I join in the new January thred when iy comes along? I'm aiming for 25 NSD's. Not counting DD's.0

Can I join the Jan challenge too, I,m aiming for 12 NSD a month I,ve just discovered if I stay away from the shops I won't spend and if I stick to this fab site and stay away from online shops I will be better off! I am really turning over a new leaf this year and nipping my spending in the bud, have 2 kids who I buy all round me for, thinking they will be happier if they have everything and in fact all they really want is a walk in the park to feed the ducks! After spending a fortune on Xmas presents my 3 yr old daughter justs wants to play with a plastic spanner and handbag I gave her. This website has really inspired me to be better with money and think about what I really need. Thanks for all the great ideas and Happy New Year all! I,m not expert but I did my grocery shopping online for the first time and have saved loads...I bought lots of shops own brand which I normally don't even notice in the shop and loads of offers. I reckon I cud have halved my usual spend plus I avoided all the choc I usually buy!No more toys til Xmas 2022 , mfw 2023 challenge , Trying to not waste food , time or money and appreciate the moment more!0

Yesterday was a spend day - started with a couple of direct debits, and then saw me order a new breadmaker (makes smaller loaves than my current one, and I've come to realise that one reason I don't use it is 'cos a 2.5 or 3lb loaf is too big for just me - new one makes 1, 1.5 and 2lb, so they compliment each other nicely depending on whether it's just for me or if I'm expecting visitors I need to feed) and an electric slicer (partly for bread - as another reason for not making my own is that I hate slicing it by hand - and partly so I can buy Whoopsied joints to make my own sandwich meats instead of being stuck with value ham most of the time, 'cos I won't pay what they ask for beef , pork or quality ham unless they're Whoopsied).
I ordered both machines via Amaz0n (but not from them, and they were each from a different place) in the morning, got an email at 8am today to say the slicer has been handed to the courier, and then a text and email at around 9am to inform me the breadmaker would be delivered 'between 12:24 and 13:24 today'. The delivery times concerned me a little as I had a running club race this morning, but by ducking out of the prize giving a few minutes before it finished I managed to get home at 12:20 - and the delivery van arrived at 12:25 !!! No eta on the slicer and no link/tracking number to monitor it, so I'm just hoping it doesn't come tomorrow morning (or if it does one of my neighbours is in and the delivery person tries them) as I'm off to the gym for my PT session - and was then planning on a mooch in Mr T to see if they've any post-Christmas bargains I'd be daft to pass up on
I'm now going to have to make sure I don't buy any loaves (apart from new specials that are heavily Whoopsied in order to see how well a flavour works) or sandwich meat in 2012 in order to make them pay for themselves. Just need to get the low down on when the butchery section do their reductions so I can pick up some joints (I'm assuming they have pretty set times like the other depts), so will have to catch one of the butchers I know as I'm sure they'll let slip
But today was NSD #9 :TCheryl0 -
A spend day for me today, scales for my new start, and food shopping. i think tomorrow may need to be a spend day also.:DDFW Nerd 1394.

I learnt to ski in my twenties when I first moved to Switzerland.I enjoyed it but was never very good or very confident.I tried snowboarding once which very challenging.Apparently it's easier to learn to snowboard if you've never skied. The last time I skied,I did a week's cross country which I really enjoyed. That was nearly ten years ago.
I gave up because I was always the last one, struggling to keep up with the others.Once I got tired, everything went to pot.It seemed more of an effort than a pleasure.
I tried wind surfing once briefly. It was great but such an effort.I don't have the nerve to try ice skating....I know I'd just fall all over the place.
It's a shame that your husband can't try skiing.You're right,it's too risky.
I've really got to go to bed,it's quite late.0
