Airbag light and MOT
Options
Does anybody know if a car can pass an MOT with the airbag light on. I have a Fiat Brava and i am being told that it is a common fault and Fiat are not very good at getting this fixed. Some people have surgested taking the light out, but as i intend to sell this car after the MOT i would not do this.
Any helpappreciated,
Thanks

My car passed it's MOT in October with the airbag light on.
I also posted a thread some time ago regarding the airbag light fault and the replies to that might help you. It's at: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=279619

OH airbag light came on and stayed on. Eventually took it to the garage and it was just a loose connection.
He was told why the light was on the airbag won't function.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

It's probably not a good idea to buy your car with a non-functioning airbag (or airbag light) so you'd probably want to get it fixed before sale.
I have to admit that I thought it was a fail but http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual/contents.htm seems to disagree with me.

I dont think it would be a problem with the MOT but it should be easy to sort it out at a competent garage.

If he was canny he would know: the airbag light is meant to come on when you turn the key in the ignition and then disappear... which isn't to say that most people would notice this of course.Debt at highest: September 2003 - £26,350

A lot of cars have connectors for the airbag under the seats, if the seat has been adjusted then the connector can come loose, just check this isn't your problem before you get it looked at.0
