Poundland rechargeable batteries.

They are not designed for low drain applications like this as they "self discharge" relatively quickly. Either use non-rechargeables, or the "Eneloop" or equivalent new technology rechargeables - assuming they work as claimed.Solomon_Broad wrote:I had some, and they were rubbish. I put one in a clock and a fortnight later it had stopped.
As has been pointed out, they are cheap because they are NiCd, not NiMH. I gather that the EU will ban these eventually because of the toxic heavy metal they contain - cadmium. So from a green point of view you may consider it to be better to buy NiMH cells. I've bought four-packs of these from Lidl (as a special) for £2.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0 -
I'd also not recommend them for remote controls (unless for the Wii
) - again, the self-discharge rate will dominate. Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0 -

These particular batteries, or NiCad rechargeables in general? I have some rechargable batteries (not the NiMH ones) in a remote, and they've been in there at least a year. I put them in when we had the TV last xmas.

I'm very surprised they are still working after a year. NiCd can keep going for a few months, but NiMH only a month or so.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0

ni-cd last forever in low drain applications such as remotes and clocks.
ni-mh is unable to hold a charge very well and will completely discharge after a few months.ॐ Signature Removed by Someones Mum. ॐ0
