IB and Jury service - anyone done it?

Thanks very much for everyone's feedback, I called the Jury service people today, and pretty much the first thing they told me was that depression automatically excludes me.
In a way it's a relief not to have to concern myself with the long travel and the days of being around a bunch of strangers and the concentration for long periods, but I guess it makes sense, after all, they can choose from the whole voting population, it's no great disaster to write a few people off.
Also, if I'm likely to call in sick on days, I imagine it's easier for them to just choose reliable people.
Thanks again for the quick and helpful messages.

Having done jury service and been on one case the whole time I would say do not do it if you are depressed! It is not worth the risk and anything like we had will do nothing to improve your depression I can assure you.
You DO NOT want to be a juror. I have sat through murder trials with my job and the photos and evidence the jury hears and sees is often extremely distressing.0 -
How do you get picked for Jury Service? No one in my family - sisters, brother mum or dad, grandmas' or grandads' have ever been selected.
Which means as far back as 1939.
We must be considered as not being of good character!!0 -
I think it's Sod's Law, the randomiser picks only those it'll be awkward for
Although I think the deal is, once selected, you're on the books for 2 years, and you can get picked again after that period expires. I imagine many people never get chosen and others have been selected half a dozen times or more. 0 -
It's pure pot luck. Just that! If you are on the electoral register you can be selected.0
