Buying uk train tkts in usa

An American friend visiting Britain and Europe wants to get rail tickets in advance.

Any recommendations for good sites? I would start by suggesting she checks seat61.com for advice (though targeted at UK) and eurostar.com, but less sure about travel within UK.

I used Red Spotted Hanky when I booked a train from Gatwick to our home town from Denver.

Any of the train operating company sites are fine - the trick will be to find one that can successfully process US credit (or debit) cards and that does seem to vary from time to time.

Edit - and RSH (as recommended above) are also good.

Avoid Britrail or any other companies 'local' to the USA - they only sell full price tickets and charge a large booking fee on top
