Quote for a new central heating system...

Is this fair?
I have asked a CORGI registered plumber to supply me with a quote for a new central heating system. I live in a small three-bedroomed house, which has a garage extension, which has since been split into two rooms.
The radiators will have to be fitted in each of the three bedrooms, the hallway, lounge, kitchen, study and dining room. I'd like a chrome curved towel rail in the bathroom. I live in West Lancashire (not Liverpool anymore).
Anyway, what do you think of this quote?...
The stripping out of the existing heating system and the supply and the installation of a new central heating system that would consist of -
A Baxi 105E HE instant high-efficiency condensing combination boiler, heating eight Heat-Line compact radiators and one 500 x 1200mm towel warmer.
Seven of the radiators will be fitted with Drayton thermostatic valves, complimented with a matching Pegler valver at the other end.
The eighth radiator sited in the lounge would be fitted with conventional valves only, as a Honeywell room thermostat will be installed controlling the room temperature, this creating a boiler interlock as required, conforming to current building regulations. The towel warmer would be fitted with chrome minimalist valves.
Pipework supplying the radiators to be fitted in 10mm unless otherwise requested and concealed in vertical PVC trunking supplying down to the ground floor.
On completion, the system will be flushed and treated with Sentinal x 100 inhibitor.
Lengths and configurations of the radiators to be confirmed.
The new gas supply will be run from the meter cupboard routing through to supply the new boiler, keeping concealed where possible. A new line will be run from the meter. The best, most direct route is the one which will be most beneficial for the system - and will have to be agreed upon.
Materials and Labour: £3661.10
I am a little shocked by the price. Is there any way that this could be lowered?... (i.e. is he using top-notch materials?)
What do you think?
Many thanks (in advance) for your comments,
Martin

I cant comment on that, as I've no idea how much labour is etc, but this website* seems pretty cheap for materials. If you know someone handy, I read somewhere you can install it yourself as long as you get a corgi to connect the boiler to gas supply.

IMHO that's not a bad price, the materials appear to be a good spec.0

Hi
I agree with Mr Jones.
I.M.O.
Drayton , Pegler and Honeywell are all good makes Baxi are pretty good as well.
I would expect a good standard for that price .
Good luck.
Corgi Guy.Ask to see CIPHE (Chartered Institute of Plumbing & Heating Engineering)0 -
Yes, that is a reasonable price speaking as the wife of a Corgi reg gas engineer.
Due to building regulations all the above work has to be done and anybody who doesnt include all the work in your quote shouldnt be doing the job in the first place.0 -
I am having central heating fitted in my house over the weekend and mine is costing me £3,000 but i am having 7 radiators. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

The average price for installing CH is approx £230 per rad+ cost of boiler0

Mrcentralheating.com
Then find a plumber to fit - get him to charge for the job though.
We paid £2500 for a complete new system and a plumber to fit.
Any plumber can touch the wet end of the job, i.e fitting the water pipes.
BUT you will need a corgi red'g engineer to fit the gas etc.0 -
Seems like a fair quote to me too.0

definatley use Mrcentralheating.com I bought my system from them and instead of copper pipe they offer plastic pipe. I fitted all the pipework and the boiler myself and then got a corgi plumber to run the water and gas. He charged me £300 to do this and sign off the system.
The plastic pipe is wonderfull stuff. but i didnt trust the connectors so I used a special plastic pipe glue as well just to make sure. and where the pipe connects to the radiators i used Copper sleaves that cover the plastic pipe.0
