Difficulty in obtaining Job Seekers Allowance

My BF applied for Job Seekers' Allowance back in May (2011). As yet he still has not been sent anything in order for him to collect the money from the Post Office.
He has asked on numerous occassions what is happening, and it transpires that his contact at the job centre did not process the application correctly on the computer (don't think she pressed the "send" button) - this has (we hope) now been sorted - about 9 weeks' ago. Still nothing has come through.
He has asked to see the manager of the job centre/his contact's boss.
What else can we do to move this along.
This is a whole new world to us. What questions should he be asking?
Thx

An official complaint, possibly with a request for compensation - may also be worthwhile.

Do you mean he has actually been signing on but not getting any money or do you mean that his claim hasn't even been processed? Whichever, it it went back all the way to May I would be hopping mad and refusing to move from the Job Centre until someone explained to me what was going on!

An email to your local MP might move things along.

  • Thanks to you all for replying.

No reference has been made to me (GF) in applying for JSA.
Looks to me like the administrator is incompetent and has done/not done something correctly.
BF has asked to speak with adminstrator's boss, to move things along.
We have never had experience with any sort of social benefits, and really quite appalled at the way people are treated.
