ESA support group

Hi

I have been transfered from Incapacity Benefit to the ESA Support Group. Does anyone know how long this decision lasts? The award letter doesn't mention when my benefit will be re assessed.

It can be anything from 3 months to 3 years. If you ask for a copy of your medical report, it will say at the end what your prognosis is e.g. if it says 'a return to work is unlikely in the longer term' this would mean 3 years if you are in the support group. Otherwise it will say something along the lines of 'condition is unlikely to improve for at least 2 years' or 'a return to work could be considered after 12 months' (this doesnt mean you will be expected to go to work after this period, simply that you will be re-assessed).

Thanks for the quick answer Amus! My medical support letter told them my condition is not going to improve ever and I didn't even have to go to a 'medical' (I thought from reports on tv everyone was going to have a face to face?) not that I'm complaining .

The face to face medical your talking about is for DLA

Hi. I don't think so Dave. I was on Incapacity which Cameron and his mates hate with a vengeance, he's complained that people had been put on it and then never seen again (not true by the way, I have in the past been to many Atos tests).

But thats coming to a end and most ESA claims do now have a face to face medical with the lying ATOS lot

Yes, I must have been lucky, that or they have been given enough information to not need to see me.
Reckon we have the same opinion of Atos.

Lots of people transferring from IB to ESA are passed on scrutiny without having to attend a medical assessment.

This is totally wrong. Everyones should attend medical assessment because the past history could improve their health by now.

Oh my i've never heard so much nonsense in my life, is that an opinion or are you officially calling out the OP on how the system works? Because what you've said is comical, the medical only goes a head if the pre-board check concludes they need more information, granted that is most of the time but definately not all of the time.
