PPI claim, Santander/Aliance & Leicester Help?

We have decided to put in a claim for a loan that finished last month. the reason being we were given the impression that the loan would be given if we took out PPI and refused if we did not take it
I have the questionnaire ready to complete and have sent for a copy of terms and conditions, which i have received, do I need to send a letter too and do i need to send any other info.
we took the loan from Alliance and Leicester which Santander took over, so I am assuming I send the complaint to Santander?
Any help appreciated ie Templates ( cant seem to find any)
Thanks

Hi, You need to submit your claim with all relevant documentation as follows:

    1. Original agreement (If you dont have this you can send a cheque for £1 to the admin team at Santander and they will send you it out)

    2. Claim front page letter

    3. OPTIONAL - I included the FOS questionaire by accident and actually think this is what got me my result so fast, the fact that a Financial Ombudsman document was in with both claims made it clear to whoever was sifting through my paperwork made them aware I knew what I was doing as far as who to go to if Santander/Abbey didnt comply...basically it sent a message saying I'AM READY FOR YOU! lol

Send everything off in the same envelope and send it recorded delivery, then give it 8 weeks (this usually is sorted inside of that but thats the given SLA for the bank to respond to a claim)

Also, do your calculations and write down what your owed an keep it with you or memorise it incase you get any phonecalls asking you to tell them what they owe you....this happened to me and they agreed and carried on with the claim.

I claimed for both my loan PPI around 3 weeks ago and have been given an offer with no hiccups, which is why its important to check you have everything they would possibly need when pursuing your claim.

Hope that helps, and good luck!
  • Thanks, I have all that you have listed but not sure what you mean by claim front page letter
We have had other loans with same company so will look into the ppi on those too
    thanks again

    1. Original agreement (If you dont have this you can send a cheque for £1 to the admin team at Santander and they will send you it out)

That is not correct. That only applies to debts that are still inforce. Candystripes said that the loan has been repaid. So, a request under the CCA costing £1 will be rejected. The SAR request costing £10 is needed.

However, there is no requirement for you to get a copy of the agreement. That is just for people who are going on a fishing expedition.

Template letters generally have a lower success rate on complaints than personalised letters. They can damage a complaint if you include things which are obviously made up or lies. i.e. if there is no evidence and a balance of probability decision needs to be made and your template letter has a list of things that are made up, telling lies or fraudulent, then that will lose you credibility and make the other side look more trustworthy. (equally it applies to the firm if they try it on and are caught out)

  • I sent the FOS questionairre on Wednesday, with relevant documents by registered next day delivery, I had already recieved the terms and conditions of agreement after sending a £1 cheque, I also included a copy of a letter we had received at the time of taking out the loan, which had no details of PPI included in the loan,
Yesterday we had a phone call offering us a full refund of the insurance plus 8% and to let us know that they would look into other loans we had taken prior to this one
I amazed how easy this was and wont quite believe it till i see the money which could take up to 8 weeks
Not sure if this is relevant but some years ago we did receive a letter from Alliance and Leicester saying that we may have been mis sold PPi,
    thanks :)

reading his posts gave me the confidence needed to apply for PPI claims of 4 loan from Santander with a total of approx £7500 paid. I posted my reclaim letters for all on Wed 30/11/11 and received a phone call from tham on thurs 1/12/11 stating they are going to honour my complaint and send me an offer of refund in the coming weeks.... THANK YOU...
Esp as I'm currently on a DMP and have been for approx 14 months still owing approx 17K yet with this refund coming i can finnally see light at the end off the tunnel.

I'm also going to try and get my bank charges back from them as there was months a was having to pay anything between £100-350 and this was happening for approx 5 years an avarage of 9 out of 12 months.

I will keep you all posted.
thursday evening was the first time i have smiled in years as i finally feel like I'm actually slowly but surely getting on top of things:j:j:j
