Laptop help please x No user name icon.

Hi ,
I had an old laptop that I thought would be good for ds1 but when i started it up I just got a black screen. Installed XP on it & all seemed to go ok but now I have a screen that says " click on user name to begin " but there are no user names , just the message ? Please help ! I know it's probably a really dim question and I really would appreciate any advice xx

    Have you checked to see whether the laptop maker offers a Diagnostic Utility for download? These often come as a CD image which you can boot from, so you can use it even when Windows won't run.
