Consider a programmable thermostat if you want to get a little more sophisticated, so that you can set certain temperatures for different times of the day.

I'd definitely second this if you don't have one already. I bought this one: http://www.e-tradecounter.co.uk/p-869-programastat-7-day-frost-protection-room-thermostat.aspx to replace an old-fashioned dial thermostat with a separate timer on the boiler. It's very easy to install (just remember to turn off the electricity to the boiler before doing it) and works very nicely. That model lets you set 6 different time/temperature combinations for each day of the week.
Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning
