Hi, hope someone can help!
Am trying to speak to a real live human being at the Gas board regarding a Threatening letter they've sent to an elderly neighbour. I seem to remember there was an article somewhere that told you which numbers to press to over-ride all the automated options they give you so that ultimately you're put through to someone human.
Does anyone remember/know what this number is???
Any answers gratefully received. The gentleman in question is very poorly and had just come back from his chemo to find this appalling letter on his doormat this morning and is very distressed.
Thanks in advance!

I take it by gas board you mean BG... you can just not press anything, it'll connect you. Each department has its own 0845 number, so as long as you dial the correct one, you'll go through to the right dept.
I assume that the distressed neighbour is on British Gas' energy care register, and notified them he was going to be away and put something in place so that the bills would be paid whilst he wasn't there? Otherwise, how would their computer system know any better?
Just to advise you they won't discuss the account with you due to the DPA unless your neighbour speaks to them and authorizes it.0 -
If you dial them and dont press any numbers you will eventually get through t a person.
Before you gp to mad with them tho, most letters they send are computer generated based on what state the account is currently in. British gas would not necessarily know your friend was very ill unless they were told.
But if they have been advised he was very ill and arrangements have been made on his account then that is another story.
As tripled said above they will not discuss his account with you anyway unles he gives hem permission to do so.
