Hi, i switched to EDF fixed 2014 a few months ago and have had 2 DD's took out since. The first was £41, i submitted meter readings about 2 weeks after the first meter readings and now my DD has rose to £76 a month!

I was with Eon before and my quarterly bill was around the £145 mark both gas & elec, I switched to Edf as moneysupermarket came up with that i would be saving around £150 a year and fixing for 3 years.
So whats gone wrong?

I phoned EDF today, They said it was right but if i want i can put it back down to the first DD amount. I have had it put down to £50 a month but am a bit worried now that i might be racking up a load of debit that i will owe them as they dont review the DD until june next year.

Anyone else had this?

Thanks

I'm afraid that basing your actual annual cost on the amount you pay, or were paying to a previous supplier, in D/Debits isn't the way to do it - What counts is the number of Elec. & Gas Kwh you consume a year.

You can get these figures from the bills that Eon sent you.
Once you have them, put them into 'switchwithwhich' taking care to use the drop down menus to enter your Kwh useages for a year.
When the list of suppliers and prices pops up, press the 'compare tariff' icon on any of them - This will bring up a window showing the fine detail of that suppliers tariff, directly alongside the fine detail of your EDF 2014 tariff and what it's costing a year

Just be aware that EDF's computer for "calculating" DDs is seriously bust !! Just search in this forum for all the recent postings re EDF!!! Also appears that currently SOME new customers are being billed quarterly with an immediate recalculation of DD ! I'm one !!

I'll have to have alook at that. Surely though the compare sites can't give you false information. Like I said on the info I put in moneysupermarket it came up with I would be saving 150 a year.
  • EDF tried to up my DD from my initial payment of £84, initially to £91 and then to £113, which seemed excessive since I had told them my annual usage when I joined them in July. A quick call this morning and they agreed to return my DD to £84.

The CS did say that it was highly likely that the computer would up my DD again when I give them new readings so it looks like I'll be making another call in a few months!
