Edinuburgh to Leeds routes do not have a single free seat between the dates mentioned. They do however seem to have a regular Sunday morning seat for £1 leaving Edinburgh at 05.45 arriving in Leeds at 10.50. I did also manage to find one or two at £1 on a Monday and Tuesday and a couple of returns from Leeds also at £1 leaving Leeds at 21.00 arriving Edinburgh at 01.40.
Usual price is £33 each way, some are £18.00
Personally I really could not be bothered when I can get a return train from where i live (Alnmouth) to Leeds for £34 using the Trainline - and in conjunction with regular Red Spotted Hanky deals of £10 off, sometimes £24, I book a plusbus ticket at same time for an extra £1.50 for travelling around Leeds. You cannot do this journey for near this in the car - think now it costs me around £45 in diesel.

I've just picked up tickets from Newport to London, return, 5th and 7th February for two people. Free tickets, 50p booking fee. No CC charges!.

I did notice in the T&C's that it is only for englan and wales - scotland dos not count, so if you could search for tickets from your nearest english point that may help. The family i have booked the tickets for are in scotland so it does mean they'll have to pay to get from scotland to newcastle but thats still saving them quite a bit

I just managed to book various free tickets between Leeds - London - Leeds, Leeds - Sunderland - Leeds and Leeds - Preston - Leeds

Various dates between middle of January to end of February.

40+ tickets total with a total of £1.00 (I did 2 separate orders).

Pretty good value I would say!!!

MegaBus's bus only travels from Carlisle (nearest stop to me) twice a day everyday at 2am (southbound) & 3.35am (northbound).
There are a few freebies from here (to Manchester only) and they are:
January 14, 16, 17, 22, 29, & 31
February 4, 5, 6, 14, 18, 21, 25, 26, 27, & 28

There are also some £10 tickets on this route on most weekdays in January & February.

Every Wednesday (all year round) they have £5 capped fares in England!
