A cheeky £26 or so to bring my total paid off to £3k - that's a third of my target! Jolly pleasing, even though I won't make it to 9K this year. BUt we will pay off all our debt (a chunk of that 9k was going to be savings). If I can end the year with some sort of savings I will be thrilled.

    Well done Sarah! :T

Decided to take on Martins advise and look at the amount of interest I would be earning and compare it to the interest on my debts and there was a massive difference so chose to use my savings and make some massive payments.

So I have paid my car insurance, paid my student load, and totally happy that I can now say I have paid for my car its alllllllllllllllllll mine now yahooooooo.

My credit card will be having some much bigger payments now :j

So my new update is now.....

    No 135 £4960/£13,441 paid

Wow, that's a great amount to clear, well done :T :T

Sorry to hear about your daughter, but as seasideDreamer says, she might decide she wants to come home again to you :)

Heads up all - we're halfway through June. How did that happen?! And that means almost halfway through the year. Check your total - are you halfway or nearly halfway? I'm certainly not... but then my aim was always a bit ambitious. The last three years the max I've managed to pay off is £7k. If we can do more than that this year I'll be thrilled.

How are yuo all doing? Are you going to meet your targets?!

I'm about halfway to my target, but I'm nowhere near the amount I had hoped to pay off by now. Due to the interest and some other unexpected expenses this year I haven't achieved an awful lot really. It's very frustrating really - what I could have done with that money! But it would have been worse if I hadn't been paying things down.
I'm not halfway there but I've paid off £2000 so thats progress...just hope once I start the new job next month I'll actually start being able to pay more able without the extra £100 a petrol a month although going to town at lunch is easier so that might not help...though Ill be busy walking the dog and I live right in town and can go to the shops when ever I like so it shouldn't be any different should it:)

Here's to doing even better the next 6 months:j I expect like some of you I'll probably be back in 2013 but by this month then it should be gone:j

I'll still be here next year I'm sure. It's great that you've only got a year to go though!

Well I'm well over halfway there, and not far off my original target of £2000. I'll also still be here next year, but that will be it for me then (fingers crossed) until we get a new car, and hopefully we'll have had a few years finance free to have a decent deposit to put down. I know there's a few things we're about to do that will rack the debt back up, going for a private referral for my son, not sure how much that's going to cost, but there are some things that are more important than how much debt you have.

    Hi All,

Redundancy pay came through so have made some big payments. Won't make an more until next month to give me chance to figure out how much we need to live off. So my June totals will be

Reduced debt by £8151 in June so...
Total debt reduced by £10562.07/£5000 target
    Now owe just £437.93/£11000!

Aside from the redundancy pay this forum has really helped me focus on reducing the debts and my monthly amounts have been much better than I hoped. Will see how things go but may change my totals to include mortgage once other debts are gone and see if I can start overpaying on that if I am able...

    Thanks everyone!
