Do I uninstall before I install?

I have Mcafee antivirus running out when I am away on holiday. I can get it free for a year with my bank. Should I just install it when I get home or do I sort it out before it runs out.
If so, do I uninstall the current one before starting the new?

You really don't want McCrappy on your computer, whether it's free of not. Use Avira, Avast, or MSE instead-also all free.
Yes you should uninstall one AV program before installing another, and use the relevant removal tool.No free lunch, and no free laptop
