Possible virus on my HTC Sensation?

When I switched my phone on this morning, I had a red star with white outline icon in my notifications area. Dragged it down and it said "you have win an iPad 2. Click here etc etc". So clearly spam of some kind, but how did it get there? Obviously had emails and pop ups like this but this is a new one on me.
I checked my running tasks and nothing obvious - Facebook, Mail, Ebay.
I do have an AV app on my phone.
Anyone seen this kind of thing before?

As an iphoner (im not gonna offer any dumb apple vs world comments) can you do a master reset? i plug in my phone to itunes and can reset it from that, can you do that with your phone? could be some corrupt data you have received?0
