buying STRONGHOLD flea treatment online

our cat was prescribed stronghold by the vet after over the counter flea treatments didn't work and it's getting close to the time that we have to buy some more stronghold.

it's very expensive from the vet as you probably know and i heard that you can buy it online if you have a prescription

i found it on this website http://www.vetuk.co.uk/pet-meds-prescription-only-stronghold-flea-treatment-c-21_772/stronghold-for-cats-p-489 and it's much cheaper (assuming the postage isn't a lot)

is this a legitimate way to buy prescription flea treatment for our cat and will our vet just let us have a prescription for us to use to buy the stronghold from somewhere other than from them?

thank you very much if you can advise

  • Yes, it is a legitimate way to buy the prescription flea treatment, but you will find that your Vet will charge you for the prescription, so the saving won't be as great (or potentially non existant if the prescription charge is high) as you'd hoped.
  • does anyone know how much they charge?

if the vet has seen your cat within the last 6 months they will fill in the prescription for you free of charge (my vet, goddard, do this), but otherwise its the price of an appointment as the vet has to see your cat

I always get a repeat prescription filled out for my cat for 2 x 6 pipette when we are going in for an appt anyway, so it lasts a year..
We got rid of the kids. The cat was allergic. ;)

    Free scripts! Wow

My Vet charges £15 per product - so for my cats and dogs (different sizes) I had to pay £45 just for the prescriptions.
Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree! :D
