Tumble Dryer Only Blowing Cold Air - Help

Hi

As the title says, my dryer is only blowing cold air now, it's not that old & I'd rather keep it if it's cheap enough to fix.

My mum said something about it might needs new 'brushes', if so are there different sizes etc? How do I fit them?

Or should I just get a new dryer?

Thanks

I thought the brushes were only to do with the motor that turns the dryer around.....more likely the heating element is gone, dont know how much to repair. Some more info on Yahoo answers HERE
:confused:I have nothing better to do!!!!
  • Sure it didn't overheat and pop out a little trip button/switch at the back somehere?

If so. Push the button back in and try again.

    That's what mine does!

Well I never knew there was a button there! I nearly didn't spot it.

Have pressed it and it's working but now smells of burning.

Should I turn it off immediately or leave and see if it's just cos it hasn't been used in a while?

Also, the hose that comes out the back, should that be higher then the dryer or anything? It's been fitted to the outside wall low down, is that anything to do with it?

    Wahey!!

It's working, all that time I only had to press a button!

Burning smell seems to have gone, I'm assuming that the button will just pop out again if it overheats or anything?

    Thank you!

The burning was probably dust burning on the heater elements but it might be worth taking the top off and checking to see there is not something more serious going on.

A vent hose at floor level is quite normal and ok. Provided you are using a proper flexible hose of the correct diameter ( 4 inches probably ) that cannot kink or get bent, you can vent it at any convenient level.
