Excluded from formal consultation - please help.

Hi
Basically - my origional post was for full time in one service which entailed a number of other services - and it was to support the service as a whole. One particular service within this main service (still with me?!) lost a member of staff about 2 years ago and was unable to recruit, it was therefore agreed that I would bump up my support to this particular service to half days - so I have been spending mornings with one team and afternoons with another. At the time both teams were within the same service and funded from the same budget. I had the afternoon role written into my job description.

In the last 2 years services have disbanded and been reviewed and as such the origional 'main support service' as a whole has disintegarted, the only remaining part left is the team which I support in the afternoons.

My morning role team have all been reviewed, but this did not include me for some reason, so in theory I am being paid full time from the same budget as my colleagues in the afternoon.

We were informed about a year ago now that the afternoon team would be reviewed at some point. I have been invited to all the meetings and received all the same emails as the rest of the staff.

However, today everyone else in the team has had an email inviting them to formal consultation - except for me. Which obviously means I am excluded. I dont know how they can do this and I am actually really upset. I am 6 months pregnant and my preference is the afternoon team. I actually hate the morning team, and this role will not be reviewed until April next year when I am on Maternity Leave.

Can anyone shed any light on this for me? I am paid for out of the same budget as the rest of the afternoon team, as my afternoon manager checked this with HR. And I have not been reviewed with the morning team, in fact I have just sort of been sub-sumed into a newly reviewed team but with my old job description which technically is out of date as the morning service no longer remains.

I hope this makes sense, sorry if not, I am really upset and angry.

What have you been doing for the morning team if all the work has gone?
  • The work hasnt gone as such, the service i worked for has. As the people which i support have all moved to another service area, which I am not included in, so really the team I was origionally in should be doing the job i do in the mornings.

Im just really confused how they can exclude me from a consultation.

SO why are you still doing it?

The logical conclusion is you are not involved in the changes

    have you asked?

It could be they are just accepting you go on maternity and will sort something out later.

You seem to have just let things drift into the current situation have you been proactive in any way with the changes?

I agree. Failing to recieve an e-mail does not "obviously" mean you have been excluded. It could just as easily "obviously" mean that they forgot to put your name on the list or missed it off! Ask them.
