Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)0 -
Thanks for all your replies. The school were very apologetic and have said in future they will not accept anything offered to them by the business. Our friend received a replacement voucher from the shop but I don't think she will be using it!!
The shop is called Discount Beds (Div of Steelark Ltd) and is situated at Haudagain Retail Park, Great Northern Road, Aberdeen. I have written to my local trainding standards office but I am not expecting much. I will also write a letter to the local papers and see if any of them will publish it in their letter sections.
The failure to honour the deal isn't really what has upset me. I could of handled it if they had called me politely the next day and said that they no longer wished to do this deal. I would of been annoyed but probably would of gotten over it quite quickly. But too call me up in such a rude and intimidating manner, falsely accuse me of fraud and threaten me with the police when they knew the voucher was valid is someting else. On top of that act extremely rude towards our friend who kindley went to their shop to try resolve the matter! Its just not right!0 -
because of the way they have acted, personally i'd demand they honour the deal and persue it via the courts if they don't.0

Thats shocking, Discount Beds (Div of Steelark Ltd) and is situated at Haudagain Retail Park, Great Northern Road, Aberdeen , should be ashamed of themselves0

Get your friend to go in the shop and buy the mattress you wanted, with the new voucher.
If you're feeling really cheeky, go with her!
Don't let it go to waste, if he has offered a voucher, she should use it, even if she gets a bed and flogs it on ebay. Make him pay!"I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0 -
i would be careful involving papers and TS as the school would have had to get a permit from the local authority to run the event, which i dare say they run every year. Something like this could reflect bad on the school itself in the eyes of the local authority when it comes to next years event, even though they are not involved, but they ran the competition that gave out the dud voucher.0
