Pet safe weedkiller for brick path
We have a lovely old, original to our house, brick path which has gaps between. We have tried putting sand in between, copious amounts of vinegar, but still the weeds come back. I have looked at the popular packets on the market but having pets worries me.
As our cat sits out on the path, and our dog walks up and down it every day, and they groom theirselves, including feet, does anyone have any recommendations for a weedkiller to kill the weeds that pop up on a very regular basis, whilst not killing the pets?

The RHS leaflet 'The use of Garden Chemicals' says that pesticides that require the use of protective clothing do not get approval for garden use, so maybe these are the ones to be aware of .. especially if your cat and dog are sitting on the area sprayed. Then is says wear gloves anyway for the other sprays and keep pets away from the area until dried off.
These websites may help...

the pesticides site talks of a child/pet logo with the phrase ‘children and pets need not be excluded from treated areas (once dry)’0 -
I use Round Up but have just been reading about an alternative:

I purchased a gas type burner for path weeds a couple of months ago in Aldi...I have not actually tried it yet so cannot say how effective it is for grow back. I just wanted something that would not harm animals like chemicals can. Mrs Happy0

I've got one of those gas burner weeder thingies too, and they do work. It takes a bit of time for the weed to actually shrivel up and die after you have nuked them with the burner, but I find that after a couple of days the weeds are all dead and crispy and I can just sweep them off the path/patio.
Do avoid getting near any plastic pots with the burner though.... (guess who now has some nice melty pots............:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: )0 -
I have now got visions of MSE'ers all kitted up with helmets and protective clothing and flame throwers. I am thinking of wafting gently around the path in a Laura Ashley frock and floppy hat looking elegant and taking my pesty weed killer out of my lovely handmade basket!Carolbee0
