What to do with 3-4K for a year??

Options
Hi There,

Perhaps somone may be able to offer me some advice. I have already placed the maximum available in a cash ISA for this next year and I have about 3-4k to put somewhere else for around 12 months.

Does anyone have any recommendations on what I could do with it for 1 year to get a good return? What are the best options?

I do not have to have access to this cash but im open to ideas

Kind regards

Trevor

  • Have you tried funding circle.
You can lend to small buisnesses twelve to thirty six months with the option of getting your cash back early by selling your loans on.
The interest rates are a lot better than you will get anywhere else.
Iv been using it for a few months now and its quite easy to get the hang of.

A year is far too short a timeline to do anything but put the money in a savings account.

Find the best 1year fixed rate.

It's not sensible to leave yourself open to capital fluctuation with such a short timeline.

Sounds like you just need a standard savings account paying 3.1%, like Nationwide are offering.
  • Best one year account at present is Yorkshire Bank or Clydesdale Bank - 3.6% - so you get about anohter half percent for locking your money away for a year with no access until maturity. This product has been on offer for a while so you may need to act quickly if you want to get it. There is a thread running about the application process which is a bit unusual - you start on line but then have to print out the form and send it in ...
