Why do you think a customer services course will be no use to you ? Surely it's better to have as much training as is offered to improve your chances of getting a job. Why do manual workers not need to be trained in providing customer service ? I'm asking stupid questions here aren't i ? The OP doesn't want a job does he ? OK, i'm off :)

I suffer from polyps on my sinus as well and i am 27.
For years i had a problem but thought nothing of it until i went to my dr about being unable to breath through my nose and having continual pain behind my eye.
I was sent to a specialist at the ENT ward and a camera was stuck up my nose he informed me the polyps are growing right up in the top of the sinus and will be a very delicate operation to remove them.
The entire time i was keeping the jobcentre up to date and was told let them know ASAP when i got a date for the operation because i would be signed off for a week or 3 to give me time to fully recover and they would sort sick pay for me.
i was instructed by the surgeon i best rest for a week or 2 before returning to any work that involved heavy lifting as it could cause a re bleed.
i ended up taking a month off because while in hospital i picked up an infection .
( dont know if it is true or not , but my surgeon was an American and he told me if the polyps continue to come back they would remove the sinus completely and replace it with an artificial one lol )

All you can do is keep the job centre up to date and make them aware that it is an on going medical problem that can require medical treatment / hospital or dr appointments.
And they will tell you that you are required to look for and be available for 30 hours a week but keep them updated and if you require an operation let them know and hand over the hospital letter to confirm and they will help you out.

Basically what i am saying is carry on as normal and look for work , attend the courses they send you on even though some of them can be pretty pointless just keep them updated and they will be fine in helping you , provided you have a decent PA and you treat them with respect and not yell or give abuse every fortnight.

( thankfully i am in a position now to say i have absolutely nothing to do with the unemployment as i was lucky to get a job within 1 month of having to close my business down ) but before i was self employed i was registered with the JC for several years and did everything to get a job but was never lucky enough to get one other than voluntary or jobs that went bust lol.

this is fairly common, and no you should not be on JSA if you are not actively seeking work. But I would not think you can claim sickness benefit either, as there are plenty of careers you could choose from.

The two situations are entirely different. You do not want to claim sick pay because you are sick. You want to claim sick pay because you don't think you should have to work. You are being sent on a course to widen your scope for obtaining employment because your current skill set is limited. You made it clear that the only reason you want to go sick is because you don't want to have to do that. There is nothing physically preventing you from going on the course - you are making excuses to sit around on the dole.

What you mean is that you have found someone to pander to your need to not work or seek employment and so from that you have decided they are the only ones worth listenting to on this 'sight'.
