Halifax Mortgage Credit

The Halifax has just credited my Mortgage Account with £1110.00 saying its a goodwill payment because their original mortgage offer may not have explained certain details as clearly as it could have, relaiting to a cap that limits interest.
I find it strange that they are giving me this amount at all, without me even asking or knowing anything about it.
I would be interested on anyones views regarding this payment or if there is maybe something else i am not aware of.
