Return Faulty laptop to Best Buys or Dell?

Hi it seems that DS2 laptop has developed a fault. I have just phoned Best Buy, where it was bought, and they have agreed for their 3rd party repairers to take a look at it. The chap that I spoke with said that the turn around would be about 4 weeks as things changed at Best Buys a few days ago. I am now concerned that we might not see the Laptop again if it was sent to Best Buys and that it might be better to send it straight to Dell.
Has anyone any thoughts on this please?

Well your contract is with Best Buy so ultimately it's their responsibility to get it repaired to your satisfaction. If you do take it back there make sure you get a receipt for it and ask them to write down the estimated return date. But I suggest you call Dell just to see if you can get it repaired direct, depends on Dell of course. I bought my son a phone from carphone warehouse, it went faulty after 10 months, having had a dismal repair experience previously with CPW i decided to call Samsung direct, they had no problem dealing direct and I had the phone repaired and returned within 5 days, CPW had quoted 28 days!0

Best Buy appear to be closing all UK stores. Contact Dell and explain the situation. Give them as much information about the faults, tell them you are worried that, in view of the fact that Best Buy are closing, you may send off your laptop to them and never see it again. Be prepared for a long telephone call.
It may be useful to access the Dell site and contact their tech Support by E mail. Have all the details of your laptop ready: Model numbers, operating system, when/where purchased, etc. Numbers will be on the base of the laptop. Dell support is good, I have accessed drivers and software for my granddaughter's 10 year old laptop.
Good Luck!I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

Does the laptop have a service tag on its base anywhere (may be on the base, or under the battery), if not it may tell you it when you power up, or in the bios.
You can check the dell warranty status online.[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that[/redtitle](house of lords debate, talking about Cameron)0 -
Thank you for your comments. I have had a lot of help from another thread and, hey presto, have got the laptop working again. Funny how these things happen at bed time. I was up until 2.20 this morning 'supervising ' the down loads. It seems perfectly ok now (but i'm not!!)
thanks again
