LPG gas vs oil
We use LPG gas for our central heating and hot water because there is no mainline gas supply and will not be for the near future. At the moment it is costing us approx £55 per 47kg which will last for two weeks when heating the house. We are currently drylining the interior walls of the old stone part of the house. Does anyone know if using oil would be cheaper? Fundamentally it is the heating that eats up the gas cos during 8 months of the year we don't need to heat the whole house and a 47kg for hot water only will last a couple of months! We have a log burner which we use during the rest of the year if it is chilly cos none of us are at home during the day on weekdays. Can anyone advise?
Many thanks!

Work it out per kWh.
Drylining - if done to current standards - may _vastly_ decrease your heating bills.
Have you done / had done a complete spreadsheet of thermal losses in the house.
You need to know exactly where the heat is going, before trying to work out how to reduce it.0 -
Flogas & Calorgas unsurprisingly claim LPG to be cheaper (including considering installation costs) & greener.m (see their websites)
Forest Fuels on the other hand show oil to be marginally cheaper per kw http://www.forestfuels.co.uk/fuel-prices.php
I'm not sure whether you have a cheap / free source of wood or not but if so have you considered a log burner with a back boiler (ie to run radiators off) as an alternative?
There is an old related thread here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3656470
