Milton Keynes Rail to Luton Airport?
In Jan 2012 on a Friday, I need to get from MK Rail station at 10:45am to Luton Airport by 11:45am, with as little risk of being late as possible.
There seems to be a Stagecoach service but I can't find any prices - anyone know what it might be?
Alternatively a taxi could be an option - any ideas on cost (approx 26 miles I think) or any local firms?
Or any other ideas?
I'll need a return journey around 1pm from Luton back to MK on a Monday.

Bus really is your only option really and will be quicker then the train.. Have look on National express or something for journeys and prices."If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0

Can't be done - the bus leaves at 1055 and arrives at 1150

How important is that 5 minutes - bearing in mind the bus may be a few minutes late anyway
The only way you will find a fare (if noone here knows it) is to ring stagecoach and ask
Taxi - at least £1 a mile, probably a bit more.
National Express go from the outskirts of town, not the rail station. Their times don't suit you unfortunately0 -
An hour? Good luck with that. A taxi would work, but would be more expensive.
Where are you starting out from? I assume not Milton Keynes as you mention the rail station. Have you already got the train tickets?0 -
Can't be done by train - it takes 1hr 30 min from MK. http://www.thetrainline.com/
If you can get to Bedford then the rail journey is about 30 min0 -
You may be able to get a train from Milton Keynes to Bedford and then one from Bedford to Luton Airport, however you are going to need more than an hour allowing for train departure times and transfer from Luton Airport Parkway to the Airport by shuttleLBM April 2011

We have this issue with my sister, she comes into MK for visits and the quickest way for her to then get to our house north of Luton is for someone to drive to MK and meet her.
We've tried the coach, looked at alternative trains.
If you can't give yourself more than an hour, taxi will be the only way but you'll be at the mercy of the M1 roadworks!0 -
The bedford thing wont work as you have to get across Mk (well Bletchley) to a seperate station with only minimal services.0

Local taxi firms quote about £25-30 for an MK to Luton Airport trip for up to 4 passengers.

I generally use eezycabs if I need a taxi around MK as they tend to be cheaper but the company I used to work for always use speedline - who seem to be quoting the cheapest price here - or raffles.
Anyway, as they all seem to be charging more or less the same you could try haggling with them to get the price down.
NB as I think these are all mini cabs, you'd have to book in advance but they are much cheaper than the Hackneys hanging around the station entrance.0
