I Changed (pre-payment) suppliers from EDF to E-on over a year ago.
A few weeks ago an EDF meter reader turned up, unannounced, when i was out and left a card, they'd be back and could i either be in or fill in the card and leave it visible.
To be honest i forgot all about it, not an EDF customer, pre-payed meter ect.
This morning I've had a hand delivered, hand written, note saying that i was in breach of my agreements with EDF by not allowing my meter to be read and they would be passing it to their legal team to obtain warrants for the bailiffs to force entry, at my own cost!
I've tried to ring the number given on the card but it's telling me I'm in a holding position for ages then cuts off as unavailable.
Any advice? like i say as an E-on customer I'm not sure why EDF even want to read my meter? Unless they supply the details to E-on?
Does a pre-payment meter NEED to be read? surely thats only relevant for bills?

All meters have to be read/inspected every 2 years and they can apply for a warrant to do this. You need to remember that suppliers meter readers are not always the same company as the supplier i.e. British Gas use G4S to read meters.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.
