Virus Pop Up Within Spoof Email? Yahoo Account

I got an email in my Yahoo account saying my Paypal account had been restricted until I authenticate my details. Obviosly I assumed it was probably a spoof and ran my cursor over the link to see where it went (without actually clicking on it) and a pop up box appeared telling me that my session had expired and I needed to log in again by clicking the link in the pop up. I didn't, I shut down the browser tab. When I opened a new tab and went back to Yahoo I was able to access my other emails without logging in again, so I am assuming that it was part of the spoof email.
I forwarded the email to spoof@paypal.com, should I report it to Yahoo too? I marked it as spam but I don't know if I should do anything else about it.
