Things to do in Vegas

Going to Vegas in November with some mates as its our 25th anniversary of our regular cards/poker evenings. As we'll be retired by the time the 50th anniversary comes around, we're doing it in style and have booked The Mirage.
We're not just there to gamble, but to have some fun while we're there. Im after some recommendations of things to do e.g.
- Coyote Ugly bar
- Star Trek experience
- Helicopter flight over the strip at night
- The catapult thing on the top of the Stratosphere
Anyone who's been there, what have you done that you really enjoyed doing?

Coyote ugly bar is strictly standing room only and full of Iowa farmers gawping at the girls. i quite enjoyed it but getting a drink is hard work.
Grand Canyon helicopter tour is a once in a lifetime expericance , and is worth everypenny of the £200 quid it will probably cost .
Statosphere "big shot" is just demented as is the sling shot thing. the roller coaster is naff though. Best roller coaster is Canyon Blaster in Circus Circus adventuredome but is the only thing in there if you are not a kid so don,t buy tickets for any other Adventure dome rides .
Manhatten express at NY NY is next best. you should never have to pay full price as vouchers are given out for 2 for 1 rides in casino. Speed at Sahara is expensive , but does what it says i,e sends you to 100 mph in a about 2 seconds.
The Mirage is so nice , i,m green with envy.
beware "the best" amateur poker players in town play in it's card room
here is a good site that reviews all the poker rooms and has MTT schedule as well
http://www.allvegaspoker.com/
Mandalay bay [poker room has best setting, MGM grand has the biggest, Luxor is cheap and cheerful , Monte Carlo to snobbish for me, Venetian a wee bit too posh but very friendly and nice , Bellagio and Wynn to exclusive, Treasure Island nice but no MTT , Srat is no frills as Circus Circus. Binions is just plain and simple cards and the ONE to play in if you play no other IMO
if you goto Binions may i reccomend the Steak house on the top floor for a great steak and awesome view of downtown and the strip
other things i enjoyed are Shark reef at Mandalay bay, Eiffle tower at Paris and secret garden at Mirage.
all free shows are pretty good espically at night, but Belligio is the undisputed champ
here is the best guidebook i have read covers everything you could ever want in expert detail

Hoover Dam is a great half day trip.
Very dissapointed with Star Trek experience unless you get vouchers to get in for half price or less.0 -
Please don't miss out on the helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon it was the highlight of my trip and I wouldn't of missed it for the world.. we flew with https://www.papillon.com they picked us up from hotel and we landed in the Canyon for breakfast AWESOME ......#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

We went on honeymoon at xmas.
What you NEED to do is:
1) Gran Canyon helicopter flight (we flew with Heli-USA which were very good)
2) Dinner at the "top of the world" restaurant at the Stratosphere Great meal (quite posh).
3) Free shows Treasure Island (were we stayed),Bellagio, ect.
If there is one Show you pay for please make it Le Reve` At Wynn. This show is the best I and my wife have ever seen, simply stunning and well worth the $90 ticket price.
Hope this helps,
Pete.I'll get me coat!0 -
I'll second the Grand Canyon heli tour. It is one of the most memorable trips of my life (second to the heli tour around Manhattan when the twin towers were still there).

we saw Avenue Q at the Wynn and me and the wife cried laughing.
i would say Blue Man Group is the best choice for everyone enjoying a show.Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
