Can my dad rent a flat for me to live in?

I am a student and I cannot afford to live in a flat by myself, but my dad can afford to rent a flat for me to live in and is willing to do so.
My dad would not live in the property - I would live there on my own.
Is this something that letting agents/landlord would allow?

They would probobly want you on the tenancy agreement as well.
Most tenancy agreements do not allow non tenants to live there. But there's no reason I can see why you and your dad cannot be joint tenants. Whether your dad chooses to live in the property is then up to him.
An alternative would be for the tenancy to be in your name only, with your dad acting as 'guarantor'.0
