What effect does compensation claim have?

Hi, my DH got £30000 compensation payout in August, which we used to pay off debts. There is none left. He has been made redundant. Does that mean he cannot put in a claim for JSA or any other benefits.

You can put your claim in but it may be subject to investigation due to deprivation of capital.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

Was he aware that redundancy was a possibility at that time? If not, it should not be a problem. Also, if he has been in work for the past few years he will be entitled to contributions based JSA, which does not take into account savings.0

I would definitely put in a claim and they will decide if it was deprivation of assets. When he got the money and paid off the debts was the redundncy forseeable?Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

While we are on, does a compensation claim affect child tax credit0

In addition, if it's a personal injury payout, it's not counted for the first year.0

Yes it is a personal injury payout. Hopefully he can get a job soon. He is applying like crazy

it won;t affect TAX CREDITS , as you can have upto £30k as long its tax free, from either a gift , win or policy payout before it affects tax credits. Although if any interest has been accrued of 300 or more then they would need to know about this.0

Wrong, there are no capital limits with tax credits.0
