you can use that, just plug the second laptop into it with an ethernet cable, and setup file and print sharing. Most routers come with a cat5 capable.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

if your problem laptop is wireless, then it is even easier, just setup file and print sharing, or use something like ultravnc to transfer the files.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

yeah they both wirless but the file is 3gb how would i do this thenHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

if you go into help, and put file and print sharing in the box, there are instructions, also plenty of stuff in google, and the wireless sticky thread about it, so I won't reinvent the wheel, it is sometimes frustratingly fiddly, especially where firewalls are concerned.
An easier way, maybe, would be to install ultravnc viewer on the destination PC, and the ultravnc server on the source PC, then use the viewer to remote control the server PC and transfer the file(s).

You could use a programme like winrar - http://www.rarlab.com/index.htm - to compress the file and convert it into small chunks of data. You can then move these smaller chunks with any thing from a floppy to a usb key or a cd to the other machine and then use winrar to recombine your data.
This is a no cost option as winrar has a 40 (?) day try before you buy period0
