Fairfx Card

Hi

I'm not sure if i'm posting this in the right place as it's a top-up card, not a credit card.

Anyway, i got a Fairfx card ages with the intention of using it to pay for Ryanair flights. I never ended up using it for that and now just want to use up the £10 balance and close the account.

I tried paying for £10 worth of petrol with it today and it was declined.

Just wondered if anyone knows why that would be?

Its a card for holiday money as far as I know - youd have bought £10 worth of euros or dollars - you can convert back to ££'s but they charge you for this...

I could be wrong but thats what my fairfx card does

I take it its the Anywhere card you have? If so, there is a 1.4% charge for POS transactions, so you didn't have enough on the card to cover the charge, which is why it would be declined

It also depends if he used it at a self service, as I believe the card is online only and shouldn't work on Pay @ Pump.

Yes you can use it at a pay at pump but make sure you allow for a bit left on the card balance plus pay at pump authorises £99 per transaction thus you must have more than £99 balance even if you just want £10
