Stopovers driving through France???

Hi guys,
Hope someone can help!
In late July me and my better half are going to Marcigny (nr Lyon) and will be ferrying from Portsmouth then driving from Le Havre to Marcigny.
Can anyone suggest any good places to stop - anything interesting to see, do, go on the way between these points???
We will have our bikes with us too, so if you know any cycle routes not to be missed they would be most appreciated!
