Ipod touch 8gb 4Generation 2010 or 2011??

Options
The difference I gather is IOS 5:p whatever that is and the price (and colour, 2011 in white), slightly cheaper for the 2010 one. Whihc one would anyone recommend or are they both the same-ish? The white 2011 does seem to be sold out at a few places. John Lewis had it for £149.

Also if the 2011 is preferred can anyone recommend a mains charger, Argos had one a good price but out of stock, Amazon have loads but am confused by them all!! Thank you.

You are right, the only difference is the colour and the fact that iOS 5 in preinstalled.
You can install iOS 5 on any 4th gen iPod Touch, but if you get one with it preinstalled you won't need to connect it to a computer to activate it (and install iOS 5 if you want).

What do you want to do with it? 8GB is not very much space if you want to download many apps.

If you have an iPhone or iPad the same mains adaptor will work for an iPod, if not any mains to USB adaptor will work.

Thanks. My son wants one, for his birthday....... he is nearly 12. Can you upgrade the 8gb?

There is no way of increasing storage. But you can have some apps on the iPod, and the rest on iTunes on a PC, and switch them about every so often when you want a change.

To give you an idea, the biggest apps on my iPhone (iPhone and iPod Touch use the same apps):
TomTom satnav 1.8 GB (though I guess a 12 year old won't need a sat nav)
2 games are 1.2 GB each
Next 3 biggest games are over 0.5 GB
Next 6 games are over 0.3 GB
Next 9 games are over 0.2 GB
Then there are lots between 0.2 and 0.1 GB, I can't be bothered to count them.

Most games are less than 100 MB (0.1 GB) though, probably most are less than 50 MB.

But I would really recommend more storage if you can afford it.

It's all confusing, he now says he want this:

Not sure if this would be better than the Ipod Touch. Same storage.

I'd recommend the iPod Touch, for the number and quality of games availble.

Its not a case of better, they are two different things. The Archos is more of a budget iPad than an iPod. I'd Google the 'Archos reviews' if I was you - it doesn't fair too well.
