BE AWARE: Admiral MultiCar policy

Background: My wife and I both have Admiral car insurance policies. When hers came up for renewal in September we asked that both policies be transferred to their (widely advertised) multicar policy. No problem, they said, and we paid the fee, and we both got letters saying that the policies were now one. My wife recieved the insurance documents for her car.
Today I was sorting out paperwork and realised that I had not recieved any policy details/paperwork for my car. I called Admiral to ask them to forward me my documents (required for tax etc. ) and was told that my car was not insured and that only one car was on the policy. It turns out that I've been driving uninsured for 3 months (which they didn't seem to care about), as my original Admiral policy was 'cancelled' when i moved to the MultiCar Policy, and then Admiral now want more money to add me to the policy - which I was told I'm on.
I've spent an hour+ on the phone (at 8p per min) to their call centre in India and they were useless - just reading their script and unable to appreciate the situation. As I write this I honestly do not know if I'm insured.
So just be aware - if you call Admiral for a multicar policy and get put through to the 'Sales Team' then think twice. You might end up uninsured.
Anyone else had a similar experience?

Deleted - I originally thought your car was on the policy but not you as a driver.
Although, when phoning Admiral, phone during normal office hours and you'll get through to a UK office.0 -
Come to think of it... how can they sell you a multicar policy with only a single car on it?0

The first and most important thing is to make sure you are insured before driving the car.
Then, write a letter of complaint, clearly marked "COMPLAINT" and ask them to retrieve the phone recordings of the conversations you had to set up the multi-car policy.
That should enable them to give you the multi-car deal that was agreed, and they should also compensate you for their screw-up.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Well obviously you need to stop driving the car for now unless you get temp insurance.and we both got letters saying that the policies were now one
If you have a letter then I'd say you have very good grounds for complaining.0 -
Exactly - this is the problem. I was originally told that I would be added to the multicar policy next year when mine (Admiral) comes up for renewal, but subsequently got a letter saying that my old (Admiral) policy was cancelled and I was now on the multicar one - which now it turns out I was not!0

Thanks to those who've mentioned not driving - the car is now parked in my garage and will not be used until this is sorted out.0 -
