I want to get my husband a tablet for Xmas but don't know which one. Budget wise I have enough for an ipad/asus eeepad or a blackberry playbook.
H has a blackberry phone and he was impressed with the playbooks earlier in the year but I have since heard negative comments about them. Also earlier in the year when I was shopping for a new laptop, he was quite taken with the asus eeepad.
Im totally stumped - any recommendations?

Personally I'd go for the Asus eee transformer - I've been quite tempted by one for a while, but I just can't justify it given the number of gadgets I already have!0

The Asus transformer has an excellent reputation. I was about to buy one myself as I will be doing alot of travelling next year but when reading about them saw that the transformer prime is to be released soon (no set date in UK yet but hopefully december). After doing some research I am set on the Prime, cant wait to get it now.
Depending on your budget, I'd go for one of the transformers, the transformer 1 is supposed to be an excellent piece of kit and a fair bit cheaper than the prime (expected to be about £500 for 32Gb version with the dock)0 -
I have the Acer Iconia A500, it is a great bit of kit and as a stand alone it has a card slot and a USB, not entirely active at the moment but I have managed to use the USB socket to read some documents off a key. It is responsive and it runs quite smoothly, it may well be worth considering alongside the others. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

Asus eee is fantastic, if you can get a deal I would get the bundle with the keyboard dock. Mine has done everything I have wanted it to.0

What does he want to use the tablet for?
I'm happy with the iPad 2, it does everything I need to do and I've had no problems with it.0 -

Love mine too. Easy to use, reliable and plenty of free apps.Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

I'm sorry, I don't apologise. That's just the way I am. Homer (Simpson)0 -
The ASUS transformer won tablet of the year, laptop of the year and product of the year on trustedreviews website. I have seen many other awards from other websites too.0

It sounds like he would have a strong opinion on which one he would want so I I'd probably just ask him
The Transformer is soon to be replaced by the Asus Prime - which is why you can pick it up on Amazon for £312 (minus the keyboard). The next iPad is rumoured to be coming in March. Personally I would steer clear of the Playbook. It hasn't been very successful and I'd worry about support going forward.
For my phones I much prefer Android but personally, for a tablet, I would go with the iPad.0
