Mixer/blender - please help!

Hello, I thought you good ladies were the best people to ask!
I've asked DH for a mixer/blender for Christmas - one to help with baking & the other to help wean my little one next year. If I can get an 'all in one' it will help space in my kitchen.
DH is a bit confused as to which one to buy - and now so am I!
I'm not sure this one is good enough fr the baking side of things as it just has little plastic whisks?

The bigger metal food mixers don't seem to come with a blender attachment.
Any suggestions/advice gratefully received!
Many thanks, C xx

I've got a very similar model and it's fine
The "all plastic" tools are for things like juicing oranges and whipping cream. The main mixing blending blades, while having a main body of plastic have working surfaces that are metal and in three years of use have shown no sign of deterioration at all. Grating / slicing plates are all metal.
So... if you does the jobs you want it for - go ahead

Hi, Well if it were me, I'd go for an electric hand mixer.

And a stick blender

*Apologies for messy links
The first one will mix butter and sugar for cakes very very well and the second one will blend fruit/veggies/soups etc.
I have both these items, although not the same models. I can now make cakes :T
I also have an all singing all dancing AWT food mixer which I never ever use, is carp for cakes - dosn't let enough air in when mixing, and its easier to use a knife for chopping.
I actually have to dust the thing, and havn't used it for at least a year.0 -
I also have one that is similar to the one in your link OP. It is perfectly good, much better than my last one. Great for using as a mixer.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D

Agree with you Linda, these are the two items I use the most, and they do the job well.
I have both a kitchen aid mixer and a magi mix blender, but I use them rarely due to the washing up they create. They look nice tho!0 -
I have an electric hand mixer, a stick blender, a regular blender and a food processor and to be honest the blender never gets used, the food processor hardly ever gets used its a bit of a faff to get really clean but it is handy every now and then (to grate the carrots for carrot cake mostly lol). For weaning my two kidlets the stick blender has been all I really needed especially for the very short time they actually eat pureed food - in fact with DC2 I barely bother with puree, just roast sweet potato, pumpkin etc and pop it on the highchair tray, you'd be surprised how much a 5/6mth old with no teeth can consume!! She lurrrrves brocolli florrets too
But the stick blender defintely doest the job just fine and I bake great cakes just with a hand mixer.
