Hi All
Just wondering if you guys could suggest some alternative investments for me to consider.
A bit of info to help... I'm 27 earning 35-40k a year, currently have about 50k in a S&S ISA in a decent spread of blue chip shares, I'm happy with this and don't want to change anything here. I would like to consider a BTL at some point in the future but at the moment I think theres 0% chance of prices going up and at least a good chance of them coming down so it makes sense to hold off for a year or 2 on that. But what else is there?
I'm saving £1K+ a month but I'm not sure I want to keep putting that just in to shares, I think I need to consider some other investments as well but I'm just not sure what. I don't really want to be to much in cash I'd rather be taking at least a little risk to hopefully get a better return, what does everyone else suggest?

First step: Do you have a sizeable amount in cash - say 6 months living expenses?
If you are not thinking of buying your BTL in the next 5 years at least, the obvious suggestion is to look at funds. These will allow you to invest in a very wide range of sectors and geographies around the world. A good resource to assess what is available is www.trustnet.com
If you are planning to buy property in less than 5 years you may well consider funds (and shares) too much of a risk because in that short a period the variability can easily outweigh a long term growth trend. Fixed term bank deposits are far safer.0 -

Building Society PIBS are worth a look. You can pick up Coventry 6.092% (CVB) for around 80p which gives a yield of around 7.6%, paid every 6 months.0
