How will the new changes affect the childcare element? I know its being reduced to 70% but what im pondering on is this:
Do both working adults still need to do 16 hours each still? Or if they combine the 24 will they pay?
No, before anyone starts, it wont affect me as i dont claim for childcare as i do the salary sacrifice instead, im just being nosey!!!!! lol xx

I havent read anything that changes the childcare element from a min of 16 hours, only the 24 hours for WTC between a couple which is still set far too low.
I'd love to see them revamp the whole childcare system, either by removing it completely and increasing the salary sacrifice amount or by tightening up so that you have to prove you only need childcare for the working time. Many many people use full time childcare yet only work 6 hours a week as there are no checks.0 -

The childcare element has reduced to 70% already.
Both people will still be required to work at least 16 hours for the childcare element, so a higher requirement than the basic criteria.

I think you'll find it's actually going to be that both parents have to be working a minimum of 24 hours a week between them with one of them working at least 16hrs a weeks.0

That is going to be the qualification criteria for WTC itself, but the OP was asking about the childcare element. To get that in addition to the other parts of WTC both people will need to work at least 16 hours (unless one is incapacitated, in prison or hospital).

Surely it would have to be a bit more than that?
For example, if you work 20 hours a week, you probably need 24- hours childcare, depending on how your job works - you need to get to work, and back from work to the childminder / nursery / etc!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Im actually in the lucky position to get a funded childcare place (illness etc) for one day a week. Then i use my vouchers to top up and in case of emergencys etc. I agree with the changes to tax credits but i think some people are really going to struggle xThe feeling i got when i confirmed my place studying criminology at Exeter Uni was brilliant!!!!!

Agreed -I actually work 18.5 hrs pw,over 3 days, but by the time you take in to consideration lunch hours & 2 hrs travel each day there is another 9 hours of childcare that needs paying for.....................0
